The Role


This is a foundational position for a Staff Product Designer who is passionate about creating a friction-free developer experience. In this role, you will be responsible for designing an intuitive way for developers to integrate Postgres into their workflows. You’ll be part of a talented team of Product Designers and have an opportunity to have a significant impact on the usability of their cloud platform.

 

Key Responsibilities:


  • Design end-to-end holistic experiences, from discovery and ideation to testing and prototyping, ensuring an ideal user experience.

  • Define, test, and iterate on interaction designs for new and existing features, including user flows, detailed wireframes, and prototypes.

  • Conduct user research to inform design decisions, utilizing methods such as contextual inquiry, usability testing, and competitive analysis.

  • Ensure all product aspects are user-friendly and delightful.

  • Influence product and design direction through compelling storytelling that communicates a clear UX vision to stakeholders.

  • Create visually stunning UI designs that adhere to established design standards, including high-resolution mockups.

  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure pixel-perfect execution of designs.

  • Build strong partnerships with Design, UX Research, Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to collaboratively align and execute your vision.


Requirements


  • 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating your problem-solving skills and the impact of your work.

  • Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, InVision, and Adobe Suite.

  • Practical familiarity with modern developer tools and workflows.

  • Technical aptitude, including:

    • Collaboration with engineers and understanding of software development life cycles.

    • Experience using or co-creating a CLI.

  • Ability to produce low-fidelity sketches quickly and synthesize user feedback into effective designs.

  • Experience creating click-through prototypes for user testing and validation.

  • Knowledge of responsive design techniques for various devices (desktop and mobile).

  • Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.

  • Experience applying lean UX principles with a focus on collaboration.

  • Ability to iterate on designs based on peer reviews, stakeholder demonstrations, and usability evaluations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to persuade and negotiate effectively.

  • A willingness to learn about databases, developer workflows, and application development.

 

Additional Bonus Skills:

  • Familiarity with relational databases and the workflows associated with them.

  • Understanding of developer workflows, CI/CD processes, and experience with CLIs.

  • Proven track record of designing successful SaaS products, especially in PLG-led environments, from initial research to product launch and ongoing improvements.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment requiring self-direction and team collaboration.
